Never underestimate the power of support

th

Somebody, somewhere, said something that made a difference.

While our parents have a major influence, we may have been influenced by someone else. Dianna Booher, a professional speaker and author of 42 books, said she was influenced most, by her 11th grade English teacher. Did you have a teacher, who left an impact on you? My biggest influence was Napoleon Hill and Jim Rohn.

Dianna received the highest award for profession speakers and was inducted into the Speakers Hall of Fame. She said, in her interview with Chris Widener, in the “Made for Success” series, that her teacher had the communication skills that inspired her and a lot of her students. She showed she cared, but she held her students accountable, and didn’t take excuses. She required her students, to always do their best.

Steve Harvey has a mentoring program for boys. Every year he invites boys that are raised by single mothers to his ranch in Texas. For two or three weeks, they are trained by men; fathers and men in the military on how to take responsibility for their own actions. It’s a physically and mentally grueling exercise into manhood. Once exposed to this life changing environment most of the young men make the change. Without this support system, they are only left with learning from their old environment.

The Bible says that people perish from the lack of knowledge. Tough love, is where you tell people close to you, the truth about themselves. Sometimes the temporary pain from hearing the truth, results in a better outcome later in life.

As parents, we don’t want our kids to go through what we went through. But we forget, the lessons we learned, made us into the person we are today; the bloody nose and the broken heart healed over time, and taught us valuable lessons.

Dianna would work 12 to 14 hours a day, because she was raised that way on the farm. Then one day, she got sick. The doctors told her that she would have to change her schedule, if she wanted to stay around. Sometimes you need to reduce your stress to survive. If you are being stressed by your job, you need to evaluate, if it’s worth it.

If your excuse is, I got to pay the mortgage, and the car notes and all the other bills, then you need to find another way to make money without the additional stress, or down size your life style. Do you really need “that big a house”? Do you really need to drive “that brand new car”? Are you being stressed out, every holiday shopping season? Are you robbing Peter, to buy Paula a gift?

Why not invest in an online business today. Can you afford to spend a little to get started? During your time off, if you have time off, learn some new skills. The support system was in place with the empower network. You could join the army of people who have decided that putting in the time and effort to make an extra $3,000 to $5,000 a month was worth it.

Part of the support system is the training programs. The basic program gets you started, the Inner Circle is the motivation part that keeps you going. The ultimate support experience is the live events where you see and hear other people. You just might hear what you need to take your business to the next level. This has been straight talk, beast mode.

P.S. Once you learn how to blog on a daily basics you can promote whatever product or service you want. You become empowered to do it your way.

Very interesting information on this blog… I always liked Steve Harvey… now, there’s a man making a difference! Thanks Earl!

Thanks Earl for sharing this story and your thoughts on support. I was able to turn my life around and the best part is, while it may seem sometimes that there’s no one around – it’s not the case at all.

You can get support via videos, audios, books, and groups on line. You can simply contact someone on Face book and just ask for help! It’s very rare when someone will turn you down if you’re sincere.
There is support all around you 🙂

Juanita Simpson
Yes, the ones who have a tremendous influence in our lives can make or break us. The choice is ours.

Earl Hackett
Thank you for your comments. It’s best to try and work it out before you begin asking others for help. You can go to YouTube, type in your question on almost anything, and see how to do almost everything. The good thing about going to live events is you get to see some of the real people in person, and you can have real quality face time.

You can go-it-along but it’s easier when you have a support system in place. One person can make a difference, but team work makes the dream work. As a former Quartermaster I know that support helps win battles and helps keep the peace.

Never underestimate the power of association

th

When you underestimate things, you miss out!

The first time I heard Jim, I knew he would have a major effect on me. I thought to myself, who is this “gray haired old dude” who speaks with such power and authority. He has since gone on to earn my highest respect. I was late to the parade, and didn’t know it. I had seen Les Brown in person a couple of times over the years and he was one of Jim’s students, and I’m sure he must have mentioned him, but it didn’t stick with me. I missed out!

Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success Magazine also used Jim Rohn’s material a lot in his presentations. He said that beside his own father, no one else, had much a powerful influence on him. Napoleon Hill and his book Law of Success had a major effect on me. Hard to believe that such dated material could have such an effect. Fundamental stuff is timeless, it never goes out of style. My definition of Legend is someone whose work goes on, long after they are gone.

Because I heard Jim speak, I went out and bought almost every CD that I could afford. Les Brown said in his tribute to Jim, that when he heard him speak, he went out a bought a ton of products that Jim represented at the time. Jim Rohn left a body of work that will be passed on, from generation to generation. He studied and mastered the spoken word. He did what he did, out of passion and gratitude. It was not for the money. Of course, he took the money but that was not his driving force.

Influences can be so powerful and yet subtle. As parents, we try to keep the bad influences from our children. Sometimes we can get them to dis-associate from the bad influences. Other times, we can cause a limited association. The same goes for us. Sometime we can associate with some people, for a few minutes, but not a few hours. Then there are those that we can associate for a few hours, but not for a few days. And finally there are some people we can associate for a few days, but we wouldn’t want it to be a life time.

I could have easily became a juvenile delinquent, if not for my father. I spent the first nine years of my life living with my mother and, she did the best she could for me and my siblings. When she got sick I was sent to my father’s house where I spent the next nine years where there was structure and discipline. As a Military War Veteran, with him is was only the right way, or the high way. And I was too young, to hit the high way.

I developed an appreciation and love for reading because it kept me occupied, because I became an only child. He made sure I didn’t get mixed up with the wrong crowd. When my best friend would stop by, Pop would say, “Don’t get my son in no trouble!”. Fifty years later James Marshall still has my back. After graduation from high school we both went off to the military. James was drafted in the Army and sent to Vietnam and I enlisted in the Air Force and went to Germany.

We must always be vigilant. Jim Rohn tells the story about the frog and the scorpion, as an illustration. The frog is about to jump into the water and swim over to the other bank. The scorpion says wait, Mr. Frog, I want to get to the other side also. Won’t you give me a ride on your back to the other side? The frog says no way, I give you a ride and you will sting me to death.

th

The scorpion says, you are not thinking with your frog brain. If I did that, we would both drown. So, the frog says OK, hop on and they start across. Half way across, the scorpion stings the frog and as they both go down the frog ask, “Why in the world, did you do that”. The scorpion says, “That’s just what we do”. Beware your associations!!!

Get with like-minded people that want to go somewhere. I read and studied the Law of Success several years ago and just recently I found the think and grow rich mastermind group that has been calling in for almost five years. 712-432-0900 at 9:00 am EST Monday thru Friday Access code 565762#. Paul Hutchins is the founder and host. That’s the power of association.

The master mind is going through the entire book (1,100 pages) and I caught it at the beginning. This time I got on the train. There are some major things happening and some will miss the train. It will cost you time and money to get on board later. This has been straight talk, beast mode. H.G.M.

Love your insight of the power of association Earl. It really does matter which people you let into your life and who you surround yourself with. I am grateful to have found an amazing community of likeminded folks that has shown me that attaining our dreams and success will come from those that came before us. Great people like Jim Rohn, Les Brown and Napoleon Hill. Thanks for sharing your awesome insight.

Yes, that is why these are study books. Great suggestions!

Powerful post Earl! Associating with the right people, is key to one’s success. I see we have some of the same mentors Jim Rohn, Les Brown, and Napoleon Hill. Thank God for the Dad you had. Thanks for sharing.

Earl Hackett
Thank you for your comments. Moms get most of the glory, but dads are also part of the story. I was blessed to have equal time with both. A strong woman can raise a son, but it takes a man, to show a boy, how to be a man. A gentle man can raise a daughter, but he can’t show her to to be a woman.  I have found that people come into your life for a season or a reason. Appreciate the good relationships and limit the time with the bad ones.

Never underestimate the power of imagination

th

Never underestimate the power of imagination was the first entry I put in my journal in 2008. It was a blast to the pass that helped build my future. Sara Breedlove was born on a Louisiana farm in 1867. She was orphaned at the age of seven. My beloved mother was orphaned at the age of eight, on a farm in Mississippi in 1927.

Sara left the farm and sought out life as a domestic and washer woman on the Mississippi Delta. While she trudged countless miles through the back roads and small towns she dreamed about better days. Sara glazed beyond her world with its outward appearance of hunger and misery with an imagination about the possibilities of a different future. What do YOU dream about while YOU trudge through YOUR job day after day? I can only imagine what my mom was thinking. Maybe getting married and having kids at an early age was her best option.

Sara saw new opportunities around her when she got a job as a domestic worker when she obtained a position with a wealthy aristocratic family. She noticed the appearance and grooming habits of the well-to-do. And the seed of an idea grew in her mind. She believed that all hair textures and skin tones were naturally beautiful and natural beauty needed enhancement to realize its full potential. People end up in dead end jobs because they fail to see all the possibilities that are around them.

Filled with a purpose she started to work on concocting hair formulas and methods that would carry out her objective. With an initial investment of less than two dollars, which took her a long time to rise, she commissioned a metal worker to manufacture a special pressing comb. With that new comb and her special concoction, she was able to straighten course hair and give it a soft texture.

The best thing my mom did for me was to tell me, “Don’t have a lot of kids (she had 14) and do something with your life”. Mom told stories that made a different to my world. Sara made a difference to her world and she became successful and rich.

Before her death in 1919, this woman became the first female millionaire. Her name, which everyone became to know, was Madame C.J. Walker. She made a fortune, and she made it into the history books.

In the book Think and Grow Rich – A Black Choice written by Dennis Kimbro and Napoleon Hill, they discussed the Mental Laws. Just recently, Sharon L. Lechter, just published the book for the female entrepreneur titled; Think and Grow Rich for Women.

What you think about grows – Whatever you persistently allow to occupy your thoughts will magnify in your life. So, we must concentrate our thoughts on a definite chief aim.

Law of cause and effect -Thoughts are the causes and life is the effect. Sky scrapers are the effect of a detailed blue print. In life and in business it’s use it or lose it – There is NO achievement without practice, practice, and more practice. Michael Jordan missed more than he made, but he made the ones that counted.

Law of correspondence – What you think, feel, and dream about flows inward, then outward. Physical activity follows mental activity.

Law of substitution – You cannot dismiss a thought directly, however you can substitute another for it. When negative thoughts creep into your subconscious replace it with a positive thought.

Law of belief – Anything you believe with feeling will become real in your life. The power of belief is like faith.

Law of attraction – Positive life affirming individuals attract like-minded people. You need to be that attractive person first.

Law of compensation – Give whatever energy, time, and effort to help some else. Your rewards will come from “the infinite source”. And you can’t out-give the “Infinite Universe!”

The Empower Network system was designed to help you get pass the technical side of blogging- so you can get your message out there. If you want to build it to the next level, that’s when personal development, really comes into play. No matter the product or service when it’s all said and done (even over the internet) you are still dealing with people.

I listened to those who have led the way: Zig Ziglar would end his lectures with” See you at top”. Jim Rohn took it one step further – “See you at the top or you will pass my dead body on the way up, because I won’t stop”. That’s what I call determination: -). What are you determined to do with the rest of your life?

The O’Jays are OK

220px-The_O'Jays-photo-by-raymond-boyd

The singing O’Jays, hit single,” Love Train” has been on track since 1973. CBS Sunday Morning’s, Jim Axelrod who was interviewing the “Old School R&B” group, asked the group why they still continue to sing after all these years.

They love what they do, and people still love to listen to them. At the age of 75 and 74, Eddie Levert and Walter Williams (both original member of the group) plan on singing for a “few more years”. One original member of the O’Jays, William Powell died of Cancer in 1977 at the age of 35. The new comer, Eric Nolan Grant has been with the group for the last 22 years.

I personally think they kept singing to stay around. Walter Williams had multiple sclerosis since 1983 said that he wanted to work through it. Eddie Levert lost his son Gerald in 2006 from a prescription overdose, and his other son Sean two years later from heart and lung problems. Eddie said he needed to stay focused because a lot of people were depending on him.

The only other person who earned my admiration, as a boomer, who refuses to quit is  Willie Nelson. At he age of 80+ he was still, on the road again. As a musician, singer, song writer, author, poet, actor, and activist he refuses to go quietly in the night. He is one of a few who owed  a lot of money to the government, who paid this due. His fourth wife (who has 20 years younger), said that she though his plan was to wear her down enough, so they would grow old together. At 68 I really like that idea. lol. But ten years younger would be fine for me.

223ad43192b94eadfcbce5e5b81d7546

The O’Jays formed their original group in Canton Ohio in 1958, while still in high school. The group consisted of Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey, and Bill Isles.

The group considered quitting the music industry in 1972. In fact, Bill Isles and Bobby Massey left the group. Levert, Powell, and Williams continued and scored their first million-seller when they teamed together with Kenny Gamble and Leon Hufff of Philadelphia International Records.

“Love Train” and the “Back Stabbers” put them back on track. The group has basically stayed the same unlike some other groups that kept the name but changed the members. I’m originally from Detroit MI, the home of Motown and one of my favorite groups was the Temptations.  They changed the members so much that at one time there were two sets of Temptations.

The O’Jays were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. You might remember some of their hits; Back Stabbers (1972), Love Train (1973), Put Your Hand Together (1973), For the Love of Money (1974), I Love Music (1975), Living for the Weekend (1976) Use ta be my girl (1978)

As a baby boomer some have decided not to just sit on the porch but to continue to sing their song. You retire from a job, but you don’t retire from life. Keeping active keeps you around.

Understand the basic laws for success

th

Do not neglect to do the easy things, you can do every day. Neglect seems like such a small thing, but one thing leads to another. Neglect starts off as an infection and becomes a full- blown disease. Neglect to do wise things with your money, you will neglect to do wise things with your time. Neglect to do wise things with your business, you will neglect to do wise things with your health.

If your money is limited, then you must choose how, or what to spend your money on. Do I want to buy some new shoes, or do I want to buy a motivational tape? Do I want to go to the movies, or do I want to attend a seminar? In the Network marketing business, the biggest question is do I spend the time and money to attend the national meetings? They are usually held in other parts of the country which requires transportation and lodging cost, along with the event fee.

I have been to a couple of events and they are very informative and inspirational. They give a person a bigger picture of their business. Motivation is great but you need more than just motivation, you must develop the skills. Jim gave a classic illustration when he talked about a guy who was not to bright and someone said; “Just get him motivated, he will get it”. But if the guy is an idiot and you motivate him, you just have a motivated idiot” 🙂

Skills make the difference. You must search for the information. Self-improvement begins with YOU. Find a good teacher, if you can. Listen carefully but make up your own mind. Jim talked about learning the law of averages while building his network marketing business.

If you do something often enough, a ratio will appear. If you talk to ten people, one says yes. Talk to ten more, and another one says yes. Talk to ten and another says yes, and so forth. New people talk to a few people, and they all say no, so they quit and say, it don’t work. In reality you didn’t work long enough to find out what your averages were.

When you are new to the business, you got to work the numbers. The problem is, some people quit to soon, to establish a base line. Rejection is a major problem in sales. If a person says no, it is not the end of the world. You must overcome your fear of rejection.

Sometimes we just have to remember our reason WHY. If you want to build your network marketing business, you can do that. No one told me how to put all the pieces together for an internet business. I knew that MLM was a face to face, type business, which is still true, to some extent. If people read your blog, they get to know you, and that’s half the battle.

I looked and listened to a lot of information and came to the conclusion that working with Empower Network was a good idea. I don’t have it all together yet, but I blogged my butt off. Hope you read something that will give you that spark, to take your next step. Click and join the conversation.

Love this post Earl! It is so true…you don’t have to bat 1,000 to make the big bucks, but you do have to bat. Sometimes (many times, actually) people don’t have their priorities in order. They want the big money but they don’t step up to the plate. Thanks for sharing this inspiring post!

My Legacy Poem (because I sat in her seat)

th

I went back to the “D”, to see what I could see.

The “D” is for Detroit, the Motor City, the home of Motown.

I discovered that working on the assembly line, was not for me.

I went back to the city, to visit and to see, a little bit, of history.

The Henry Ford Museum is full of cars.

But I got excited, when I saw the BUS.

th

I shouldn’t say, but I wanted you to know, before I go.

I won’t lie, about all the books I’ve read.

And I’m still reading, cause I’m not dead.

It’s because of them, that I’ve really grown.

And these are the words, that they have sown.

I have finally reached, a PARTICULAR age,

And I’m about to reach, a SPECTACULAR stage.

I’m not really looking, for fortune and fame,

Sometimes I’m just glad, I remember, my name.

Maybe an attitude of gratitude, has kept me around.

I’m got to do something, before they put me in the ground.

These words have come from many places,

From various times, and different spaces.

I’m just hope, that I have listened to the right crowd.

Listening to Giants and Legends, shouldn’t be wrong,

In FACT, I know, they made me strong.

When my time comes, and I have to go,

I just wanted you to know,

I’m GOING, to leave something behind.

When all the thoughts have left my mind,

It’s not about the money and the gold,

I gotta, leave something GOOD, for your soul.

Writing and rhyming, never gets old.

It helps to have fun, and it’s fun to be bold.

I’m having a ball, and that ain’t all

I’m DEFINITELY, leaving something behind.

I sat in the seat, that started it all.

They got rid of the rust, and wiped it all down.

Rosa was her name, and now she wears a crown.

She left a legacy, now everyone knows her fame.

She took a stand, by staying in her seat!

I sat in her actual seat.

And I thought, WOW, this was neat!

Hidden Figures, seemed to reveal what’s real,

images

Reading, writing and “higher math”, IS a good deal.

If I don’t write my story, no one else will.

I’m writing to leave something behind.

Mom was about survival, I’m about arrival.

She left a legacy, that will be hard to beat.

She survived it all and stayed on her feet.

Working until she was 85, was really bold.

She took the bus to work, even in the Detroit Cold.

Dad was rough, and it made me tough,

I could have gone left, but I stayed right.

And because of them both, I continue the fight.

That’s why, I GOT, to leave something behind.

When I give you my card with my link, I give you part of my soul.

The business may have changed, but the logo never gets old.

The little scrappy kid from the DETROIT, East side of town,

Finally grew up, and YES, I got around.

I’ve been to seven different countries, on three separate continents.

Some of it was due, to working for Uncle Sam,

Air Force and Army was more that, just a game.

It became a part of my name.

Then some of the travel was due,

To just who I am, and WHAT, I do.

Life is a big adventure, and I just had to get away.

I escaped the auto plant, to discover the world.

How can I be, the “Duke of Earl”, without expanding my world?

Sure, some of it was for, the “call of duty”,

And some was to just view, THE BEAUTY.

I’ve seen the desert sand in Africa, and the snow peaks of Europe.

I missed the battle in the jungle, but I crossed the Atlantic more than twice.

When you go to the library, you see a lot of books,

When you visit my blog, you’ll see my various looks.

That was how, I PLANNED to leave, something behind.

But once it’s in the cloud, you got to have the link.

Lose the link, and you will never know, HOW I think.

Writing a book, is no easy task,

But once written, the thoughts will last.

Standing in the Shadows, Listening to the Greats!!!

Will bear my name. And who knows, maybe I’ll see some fame.

That’s how I will leave something behind, so stay tuned!

I plan to publish before this June.

Before I finally let you go,

There’s one thing I got to know.

What are you going to do with the time you have left?

“The greatest stories will never be told. They are buried in the graveyards, along with all the people who never told their story.” Oscar, Tony, and Emmy Award winner, Viola Davis.

A Modern Day Cinderfella Story

th

But now they do!!!

The Philadelphia Eagles road to victory reads like a fairly tail. The team defied the odds to defeat the legendary New England Patriots. For many of the die-hard Eagle fans, that bleed green, it was the fulfillment of a long time dream.

I’m not a Philadelphia native, but I can understand their excitement. For generations (50+ years) loyal fans had come to many football games, in all kinds of weather to cheer  the home team to victory. They all wanted to witness their team come up as winner, of  “the big one”. Sometimes they would get to the play offs and sometimes they wouldn’t. They were always considered great contenders and they always had a loyal fan base.

I was in Philadelphia when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup, and the Phillies won the World Series. Philadelphia is a destination city because of it’s ties to history. When the Pope came to America he stopped by Philadelphia and the city threw him a parade. When Sylvester Stallone filmed the story of Rocky Balboa, his statue of Rocky became more famous than the real local champ.

Joe Fraizer: He was the world undisputed heavyweight champion from 1970 – 1973.  Maybe “Smokin Joe”, will be remembered mostly, as the opponent of Muhammad Ali, the GOAT (greatest of all time). Their fights were epic.

At the start of the season, Carson  Wentz  appeared to have the keys to the Super Bowl. He was accurate, mobile and fearless. The team was blowing out their opponents and still seen by many outsiders, as least likely to win.

When Wentz  was injured, the whole fan base “wrenched in pain”. It was like a big balloon popped for the whole city. Nick Foles was the back up quarterback for a team in which the primary quarterback was setting records. Which means Nick had to knock the rust off the old arm, and start firing rockets.

Game 1Eagles 30 – Redskins 17. (Eagles had 2 turnovers , Redskins had 4). As the coach, Doug Pederson, got doused after winning the season opener, Columnist Mike Sielski said “It was a small sign of solidarity and support from the players who liked Pederson and who used him, as a convenient and maybe even genuine source of motivation for the game.”

Game 2. Chiefs 27 – Eagles 20. (Eagles had 2 turnovers, Chiefs had none). Eagle safety Malcolm Jenkins said, “We felt like we had control for the 3 1/2 quarters. But when you let a team especially in that atmosphere, linger around in games, it’s tough to come out on top”.

Game 3. Eagles 27 – Giants 24. (A nail biter!) Rookie Jake Elliott beats the Giants with a 61-yard field goal near the end of the game. Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News Beat writer Les Bowen  said, “The Giants, desperate to avoid falling to 0-3, went from being shut out to being ahead in the space of 5 1/2 minutes in the fourth quarter before the Eagles caught a toehold and clawed back.”

Game 4. Eagles 26 – Chargers 24. (A tight game, but they pulled it out). Carson Wentz said, “It’s really big for us… starting with three out of four on the road. Last year we could never find a way to win tight ball games. This year … we’re starting to learn that a little bit”.

Game 5. Eagles 34 – Cardinals 7 (A blow out performance). Eagles’ tight end Zach Ertz  said, “It was probably the most complete game since I’ve been here. All three phases contributing. It was a dominating performance…The most fun game I’ve been a part of for a long time.”

Game 6. Eagles 28 -Panthers 23. ( Eagles were on the spot, but Wentz was hot! ” On a night when the Eagles faced off against a former NFL MVP who has appeared in a Super Bowl, Wentz was the best quarterback on the field by a wide margin. Cam Newton made enough plays to keep things interesting down to the end, but it was … Wentz who made the difference.” Columnist David Murphy.

Game 7. Eagles 34 – Redskins 24. (A bitter sweet win!). Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Peterson said, “It’s bittersweet a little bit. We’re excited to get the win but the realization is we got a couple [injured] in this game,”Jordan Hicks and Jason Peters.

Game 8. Eagles 33 – 49ers 10. (Jalen went wailing!)  Eagles’ cornerback Jalen Mils said,    ” They had been grilling me all week, talking about how I had no return skills. That kind of went through my mind, so I cut it back. I had to get to the end zone or I wouldn’t have stopped hearing that, for certain.”   Beat writer Les Bowen said,  ” On a gloomy, slippery, sodden afternoon, Jalen Mills neon green hair shone forth from the Eagles sideline like a beacon…Mills 37-yard interception return for a touchdown, just before halftime was the dagger.”

Game 9. Eagles 51 – Broncos 23. (The numbers do the talking!) ” The Eagles are as close to dominance as the NFL has right now. They are averaging 31.4 points per game, and they have not scored fewer than 26 points during their seven-game winning streak.” Judy Battista, NFL.com.

Game 10. Eagles 37 – Cowboys 9. (Defense was the difference with 4 sacks and 4 forced turnovers). “Doug Pederson’s steady hand has helped carry his team past first-half obstacles. When the Eagles went to the visitors’ locker room at half-time [trailing 9-7], there was no need for a tongue-lashing or a rousing speech. Pederson trust his players and coaches to be professional, and that’s how he has treated them.” Columnist Jeff McLane.

Game 11. Eagles 31 – Bears 3. (The Bears were branded by Brandon’s  5 tackles and 2 sacks). “Jim Schwartz’s defense did not allow a touchdown for the second game in a row…The six rushing yards allowed Sunday represented the lowest total by an Eagles opponent since 1950.” Beat writer Les Bowen.

Game 12. Seahawks 24 – Eagles 10. (They wanted to, but you don’t win them all). ” For the first time in nearly two months, Doug Pederson and the Eagles found themselves in a game in which every decision, every call, and every mistake mattered.” Columnist Jeff McLane.

Game 13. Eagles 43 – Rams 35. ( A bittersweet win).  A knee injury changes the game. ” It was bound to happen. Carson Wentz gambled with the footballs gods, one time too many and paid the price.” Columnist Jeff McLane.

Game 14. Eagles 34 – Giants 29. ( Foles steps in, and the special teams blocks 3 kicks). ” By no ends should the 2017 NFL East champions have been clawing and scratching … backed against their end zone by a team that hadn’t scored … 20 points in any of it’s previous four games, was about to fall 2-12 … had just un-benched its starting quarterback … and was playing under an interim head coach”. Beat writer Les Bowen.

Nick Foles, who considered quitting the game, was a good quarterback  who didn’t get enough actual playing time until Carson Wentz got injured. As the backup, he had to find his rhythm with the coach and the rest of the team. The Eagles were considered underdogs even with Wentz was winning, because it had been so long. Since it had been so long from their last big dance. With Foles at the helm, many didn’t know if he had the bark or the bite.

Game 15. Eagles 19 – Raiders 10. ( This game made sure that that the path to the Superbowl went through Philly). ” The Eagles… clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC … ensuring that any path to the Super Bowl goes through Philadelphia. But it’s fair to wonder how far down that path they’ll go with the way Nick Foles and the offense played …Beat writer Zach Berman.

Game 16. Cowboys 6 – Eagles 0 (Oops the Eagles messed up)  ” We still won 13 games. No 1 seed. Everyone got to come through Philly I don’t care if [a reporter was] started at quarterback.  We should be confident in that… So yeah, I don’t care who we have as quarterback , who we have at offense, we’d take those odds”. Malcolm Jenkins.

Too many Eagles fans had seen Boston and New York walk across the World’s Largest Stage. They wanted that title, added to the teams and the cities’ name. Many of the Eagles greats who played for a long time never received the top price. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is a great recognition, but the Vince Lombardi Trophy is for the whole team.

In many interviews, sports reporters ask the question, how does it feel to win the Super Bowl? Almost all of the players said, it’s what they dreamed about since they were  kids.

The Philadelphia Eagles took the underdog title and used it for motivation. As a results they fought a battle that will be remembered for a long time. It was the highest scoring game in Super Bowl history. The Patriots lost, but Tom Brady threw for 505 yards and three touchdowns. There is a reason why they call him the GOAT (the greatest of all time).

Nick Foles also made a little history by throwing  for 373 yards and becoming the first ever player to pass and catch a touchdown, in a Super Bowl game.

Brandon Graham strip sack caused the Patriots to lose their  fourth-ever Super Bowl loss and was the third for Brady and coach Bill Belichick. Another highlight was a reception and run by Zach Ertz which brought up the question was he a receiver or runner?  The ref’s got it right, and the fans in Philly nation were getting ready to book their flight for the big celebration.

The story continues, this is just the road, to the final trip. Fifty + years is a lot of time. If you don’t write your memories of  special times like this, how will the next generation know. I started blogging a few years ago to keep my mind active. If you want to learn how to put your story together, see how I did it at https://earlhackett323_21.gr8.com.

In the beginning , it was the power of the pen. Now it’s the proper key strokes. What kind of thoughts do you want to leave behind? I have learned that we must use our gifts to take us to where we want to go. My journey began a long time ago, you can begin your journey also at  https://earlhackett323_21.gr8.com

Love this post Earl! It is so true…you don’t have to bat 1,000 to make the big bucks, but you do have to bat. Sometimes (many times, actually) people don’t have their priorities in order. They want the big money but they don’t step up to the plate. Thanks for sharing this inspiring post!

Thanks for your comments. It takes time to develop new skills. And once you learn something you can take it with you. It’s more than what you did. It’s about what you became. I became a blogger, in a blogging community.

It’s all about the connections

th

On this day, connections will  determine who wins the Superbowl. I’m from Detroit and I will always consider it home. But I’m living in Philadelphia PA, and I was here when the Phillies won the World Series and the Hockey Team won the Stanley Cup. Now I’m here and the Eagles might win the Super Bowl. I was in Detroit when the Pistons won the NBA title with the former coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.  You never know how, you will make connections.

In life and in business, it’s all about the connections. How you feel about yourself, determines how you react with the world. On a job, all you must do is show up, and do your assigned duties. But as an entrepreneur your success is based on how well you connect with others.

It’s more than the surface: You did what? So, did I! You went where? Me to! When the other person does not do business with you, it’s may not be the product or the service, it might be YOU, because you didn’t make the internal/external connection.

What you say is just the “tip” of the iceberg. Underneath it all is the rest of the iceberg; how you feel about yourself when you look in the mirror? What are the voices saying inside? What is the noise outside? What is happening between the two? You may not realize it but, your self-esteem is transmitted when you speak to others.

What you said is just the surface. How do you feel, about what you said? Why do you say what you said, what’s your motivation? Why do you feel, the way you feel? What is your intention? Confidence builds trust and people like to do business with people they know like and trust.

Ellie Drake, doctor turned entrepreneur, coach and speaker in her interview with Chris Widener in the “Made For Success” series said that she always asked her clients, how do they feel about themselves? With one being the lowest, and ten being the highest she would ask them to rate themselves.

If they came back with anything below a nine, to her, this is an indication that there was a problem. In business, you should rate yourself as a ten, eleven or twelve. True confidence sells and fear smells. Teams that win carry that “certain air with them”.

You should be ‘centered with self’, which is different than ‘self-centered’. Centered with self, is reaching inside and connection with the creator of us all, and being of service to others. Self-centered is just “me and my world”, and people can sense that feeling when you talk to them.

In almost every type of the multilevel marketing type business opportunities, they stress personal development. Why? You must rid yourself of the bad habits, you developed, when all you had to do was show up, and do your assigned task. An air of confidence is fine but too much borders on being cockiness. People like winners, but not arrogant winners.

You want to attract people into your business. If you had something happen to you in the past, or you have a past fear that is holding you back, you must overcome that. People don’t volunteer into something unless they feel good about it. You must release the blocks that are holding you back. You want to be in a state of surrender so you can connect to the higher power within. It’s the power, that allows you to continue, in spite of your present circumstances.

To connect with people, speak to “their values”. What do THEY want? When you speak to people in their world, they will follow you into your world. Become intuitive; listen with your eyes, rather than just with your ears. The ears go directly into the brain, while the eyes see into the heart. When you can touch a person’s heart, you can reach their soul.

When you look at a business opportunity look at the culture of the organization. Look beyond the money. Yes, there is a lot of money that’s available because we are talking about a worldwide audience. Focus on one thing at a time like making that first $3,000 to $5,000 a month check.

Look beyond the owners and look at the top leaders. This is what’s beneath the water. If you have a good idea, good people will follow. David Wood and David Sharpe had a good idea when they formed the Empower Network. People from other organizations brought their whole organization along with them, and the empire grew.

Look at the training programs. Look at the core instructions, the motivation programs and the advance programs.Figure out where you fit in. You need to know, to grow. You must also attend the events to see first-hand. This has been straight talk beast mode.

I discovered another connection, but I would have never found it unless I did not neglect to do the simple things I could do every day. It’s been said that the journey of a life time begins with the first steps, these are my steps;  https://earlhackett323_21.gr8.com

Great post Earl. People see right through us, if we do not believe in ourselves. Hard to attract anyone with a negative mindset.

Charlene
Very interesting post. And I agree – it’s connecting with people, below the surface that makes all the difference in business.

Great post Earl! I absolutely agree with you… In life and in business it’s all about the connection. Love what you say here; “You may not realize it but, your self-esteem is transmitted when you speak to others.” Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comments. To reach out to others means we must be “centered with self” and not self centered. That’s why personal development is so important in this type of business or any type of business.

Motivation Assassinators

th
Donna Krech, a serial entrepreneur, motivational speaker, self-made millionaire, weight loss franchise owner and author, “invented the name” as part of her audio program. It’s the things that steal our motivation, in business, health and in life.

She is the CEO of “Thin and Healthy’s Total Solution” and the founder of Donna Krech Companies. She is also co-founder of Life Success International, where she has shared the stage with such greats as Brian Tracy, Bob Proctor, Vince Lombardi Jr, Loral Langemeier, Jim Rohn and Zig Ziglar.

She said that the lack of focus, and belief is one of the biggest reasons why, it’s so hard to make positive life change. You need to be 100% committed to succeed. It’s an internal drive to do more. Once you have the passion and purpose, you find joy in your efforts, then it doesn’t seem like work because you are following your passion.

Vick Strizhus the top income earner with the empower network talked about the proper mind set, before he got into traffic generation in a Google Handout. He got the “money thing” out of the way when he made $700,000 in his first month with the Empower Network. He is not typical, he is the rare exception.

You can accomplish almost anything, if you get it in your mind’s eye. You can look at other people’s experiences, but you must make it real for yourself first. Develop a clear picture of what you want. If it’s a number, what “realistic number” will make you stretch? For most people an additional $3,000 to $5,000 a month, is major income jump.

Numbers big enough to cause a major shift in most people’s lives will make you think. Especially when it’s part time, in addition to whatever else you may still doing. Vick Strizhus’ numbers are “exceptional and rare”, but too far off, for 99% of most people to visualize.

Write what you want, on a piece of paper, and read it out loud to yourself, five times a day for seven days, in first person, present tense. Donna used this type of positive self-talk in the first person; “I am joyful, I get the most out of life, people love to be around me, my energy level is high, I look and feel better than I have I have ever felt, I am more successful than I ever dreamed. I can give and give financially, and not even feel it. The infinite power of the universe will multiply all my efforts”. The power comes from you saying it with conviction, and taking action.

Bad habits can be changed if you replace them with good habits. Don’t let the emotional stress of the day, lead you down the road to bad habits. When you have a rough day at work, all you want to do is get home, grab a bite to eat and melt into the sofa and chill, until it’s time for bed.

You won’t exercise, you may not eat right, and forget about putting extra time in something, that will change your situation. Too many of these days put together, and you may not realize it, but you will fall into a rut. Maybe it’s time to take a good look, at starting a simple on line business. I recommend you take a look at a network marketing company, where you can be empowered.

To change things, change the people you associate with. Surround yourself around positive people. If the people around you, are not helping you to achieve your goals, disassociate or reduce the amount of time you are around them. Hopefully, that is not the person, you sleep with every night. 😦

You can listen to positive messages on audio tapes. I recommend you go to the Success Store. Your will find a wealth of information and inspirational messages from some of the top motivational speakers. You can even order some of Chris Widener’s, “Made For Success” CD/DVD series.

Online training programs help you get started, and you can resell them. Personal development programs help you to keep at it. And once you learn a new skill, you can take it with you anywhere. This has been straight talk, beast mode.

A Motivation Assassinator is not leaving a trail for others to follow. Once upon a time it was bread crumbs, now it’s links; https://earlhackett323_21.gr8.com

Empowering post Earl. Thank s for sharing… you need to spend at least an hour on empowering yourself daily – Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks for your comments. Good and evil do exist. If you do nothing, you will be seduced by evil. It’s easy to eat what you like, and not exercise. It takes will power to push away from the things you like, and to do the things “you must”.

It’s easy to sit back and be entertained and it takes effort to train the brain. You must do today, what others won’t do, so you can have what others won’t have tomorrow.
